Ways To Give

How can you help?

Support a Learner: ACE must raise funds to cover the costs of providing our services to the community. Here is an example of costs incurred by our program for one learner who is preparing to take the GED:

Program Expenses for one Semester $675.00
Calculator $12.00
Set of Pre-GED books $78.00
Reading Skills/Language Books $250.00
Set of Number Power/Math Books $125.00
General Supplies (paper/computer costs/pens) $100.00
Total Costs $1,300.00

Writing with a Purpose : We are also currently seeking funding to offer a new opportunity to our learners called “Writing With A Purpose”, a program designed to encourage our adult learners to write. Many express an interest in writing, but aren’t sure how to begin. This is an essential skill needed not only to pass the GED, but also for everyday life.

Through this program, learners will write about their own life experiences. These writings will then be published in books to be added to the center’s library as reading material for other students. Instructors will begin by helping learners to journal write and read other student writings. As learners become more confident, they will work on developing the skills of planning, drafting and editing their own work.

The opportunity to share their writing and see it in print will give them a sense of accomplishment and, hopefully, inspire them to continue writing. The cost of implementing this program is $6,307 for 15-20 participating learners. A detailed budget for this project is available.
